Enveloping
Children experiencing an enveloping schema will be drawn to completely cover objects or their bodies with different materials.
What it might look like:
- hiding, camouflaging, or concealing themselves or their bodies
- building forts with blankets and furniture
- painting or coloring a piece of paper entirely one color
- using clay, play dough, or fabric to cover toys
- covering hands with glue or paint

- Use socks to create hand puppets
- Nesting toys (like stacking cups or boxes)
- Using play dough with people or animals
- Use old socks, pillow cases or cushion covers to stuff things into
- Add envelopes to your art area for kids to stuff with their art projects and other paper creations
- Shape sorting toys
- Add fabric to the dramatic play area (can be used to wrap up baby dolls or stuffed animals)
- Use newspaper and tape to wrap up boxes as pretend gifts or packages
- Make dumplings as a cooking activity
