Tight Rope Walk
Tight Rope Walk
Tight Rope Walk
Location: indoor
Materials: a jump rope, painter's tape, or other materials
Create a smooth and calm transition between activities by creating a "bridge" between them. For example, if after snack the next task is to wash hands and then sit down at circle you could use a rope to connect the snack table to the sink and then the sink to the carpet. Instruct kids to walk very carefully on the bridge so that they don't fall off.
Possible Extensions:
- If you don't have enough space for a "tight rope" you could instead give instructions for how to walk to the next activity. For example, one day it could be tip toe, another day could be crawl, another day could be hop, etc.
- Instead of a tight rope put out pieces of fabric or paper to use as stepping stones.
