Playdough Search

Playdough Search

Location: indoor

Materials: playdough and marbles or some other small toy item (counting bears, bugs, dinosaurs, etc.)

Playdough is a great tool for working on the small muscles in the hands. Try this guided activity with your toddlers.

Sit with children at a table with playdough. "Hide" small items in a large chunk of playdough and invite children to search for them.

For example, say, "Can you find the marbles that are hidden in this playdough?"

Re-bury toys over and over again until children are done or time is up.

What We're Learning:

  • experimentation with different materials
  • fine and gross motor development
  • strengthening hand and finger muscles (especially for developing pencil grasp and self-care)
